NorthWord - The Next Generation is a pilot project aimed at creating an annual, digital-only edition that showcases the creative work of children and youth from the Wood Buffalo region. This publication will serve as a sister initiative to NorthWord Magazine, the region's premier literary arts magazine. Content selection will be youth-led, under the mentorship of award-winning literary art professionals and local artists.

Thank you to everyone who applied to join the inaugural Youth Editorial Advisory Panel (YEAP) for NorthWord - The Next Generation. We were inspired by the interest shown by young people across the Wood Buffalo region and are excited to begin working with our founding panel members.
Interested in joining a future cohort?
Applications are now being accepted for the 2027-2028 Youth Editorial Advisory Panel. Youth ages 14-18 who are interested in writing, art, storytelling, or creative leadership are encouraged to apply.
